Marshall Cohen

Marshall Cohen, O.C., Q.C., is currently a Retired Counsel at Cassels Brock & Blackwell, LLP, a Director at TD Ameritrade and at Trimas Inc., and a member of various nonprofit boards and organizations such as York University, The C.D. Howe Institute, The Schulich School of Business at York University and the York University Development Corporation.

Earlier in his career, Marshall was the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Molson Companies Ltd. Before that he worked for the Government of Canada, holding various positions that included the Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade & Commerce; the Deputy Minister of Energy; and the Deputy Minister of Finance.

Marshall graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in 1956, received an L.L.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1960, an L.L.M. from York University in 1963 and an Honorary Degree (L.L.D.) from York University in 1986.

Marshall’s interests over the years have been in two main areas: the first, the intersection of law, business and public policy, and the second, education at all ages and levels. The mission of Rumie falls squarely within all those parameters.
