Jamshid Hashimi

Leading Afghanistan Project

When I was 15 in my home village in rural Afghanistan, I took organizing the neighbourhood youth soccer team very seriously – collecting money to order Real Madrid shirts and even assigning a kid to serve us milk after practice. (Though sadly, not one of us made it as a professional footballer…)

Jamshid Hashimi is leading Rumie’s Afghanistan project. In this role he uses his more than 10 years’ experience in the software industry and his passion for innovation management and entrepreneurship to keep the project running smoothly and successfully.

Jamshid is also the founder of CodeWeekend, Afghanistan’s first community of developers, and a co-founder of Book Club Afghanistan, a growing community of Afghan book readers. Previously he was a Director of the Founder Institute’s chapter in Afghanistan, supporting new entrepreneurs to launch their dream technology companies, as well as having worked as a technical manager for the Darakht-e Danesh digital library, an Afghan open educational resource (OER) collection. He has also served as a consultant or advisor to a variety of organizations and companies in Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Jamshid holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dokuz Eylul University (Turkey) in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree from Bournemouth University (UK) in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship.
