Ed Clark

Ed Clark was the President and CEO of TD Bank Group for twelve years before retiring in 2014. Under Ed’s leadership the bank’s market capitalization quadrupled to over $100 billion, growing rapidly and prudently (even during the financial crisis) to become Canada’s second largest bank. Ed was recognized as one of the World’s 30 Best CEOs by Barron’s Magazine twice and was ranked #48 on Harvard Business Review’s list of the 100 Best Performing CEOs in the World. In 2012, Ed was appointed to the Order of Canada, one of the highest distinctions in the country, for his contributions to Canada’s financial industry and for his philanthropic work.

Prior to working in finance, Ed held a number of senior roles in the Canadian government that led him to receive the Outstanding Civil Servant of the Year Award in 1982. Ed received his BA from the University of Toronto, before going to Harvard to earn both a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Economics.

Ed Clark is recognized in Canada for his commitment to philanthropy. He supports social innovation that evaluates programs on an ongoing basis to ensure program impact and efficiency. Ed was one of Rumie’s original funders, a testament to the fact that Rumie strongly values measurable impact and efficiency.
